Among the different types of lawyers are those who practice civil law.

Civil Law covers many areas as well as buying and selling houses, marriage and family law, debt and executrices. Courts and tribunals can be used to determination of disputes. Continental law or Civil law is the predominant system of law in the world. Civil law as a legal system is often comparing with the common law. The major disparity that is usually drawn between the two systems is that common law draws abstract rules from specific cases, whereas civil law starts with abstract rules, which judges must then apply to the various cases before them.

Civil law is the most extensive system of law in the world. It is also recognized as European Continental law. The central source of law that is recognized as reliable is codifications in a constitution or statute passed by government to amend a code. People who are hurt in their daily lives by accidents, intentional acts, and other trauma are entitled to recompense for their injuries and associated expenses. These personal belonging cases are handled in civil courts.

The Civil law allotment of the Court processes actions brought by people, businesses or parties to recover property to force someone to honor a contract or to save from harm one’s personal rights. This Division handles all civil matters, including family law, probate, guardianships, conservator ships, minor’s compromises, civil, small claims, child health insurance and adoptions.

Civil law is a broad-spectrum expression for legal systems derived from ancient Roman law, as received or later interpreted by the builders of national systems of codified law in the late eighteenth through the nineteenth centuries. Prejudiced by medieval interpretations of the Roman tradition and through use by the church and Germanic tribes, the civil law tradition evolved in a complex way alongside customary laws. Civil law are controlled to areas of private law and do not expand to public law, commercial law, or penal law.
